About Us and How We Research Apps
Best Mobile Apps is a curated guide to the best apps for iPhone and Android, with a privacy-first, European angle: GDPR-friendly, no tracking, no forced subscriptions and, where possible, apps that work offline. We publish “best X apps” rankings, in-depth reviews and how-to guides.
Our recommendations are not for sale. We accept no payment for reviews, rankings or ratings, and we run no paid placements.
Who is behind this site
Best Mobile Apps is run by lapnito.cz s.r.o., a Czech company and independent app studio that develops its own apps under the Lapnito name. We tell you this up front because it matters: whenever a Lapnito app appears in a ranking or review, it is clearly labeled as ours, and it is judged by the same criteria as every other app.
How we choose and research apps
Every app in a ranking or review goes through the same process:
- Desk research from primary sources. We compare apps using their App Store and Google Play listings, the permissions they request, developer documentation and published independent audits, instead of copying marketing copy.
- Privacy and permissions. We read the App Store privacy label and the Google Play Data safety section, check which permissions the app asks for and whether they make sense, and note whether it needs an account or works offline. These labels are developer self-declarations, not independent verification.
- Hands-on testing only when stated. Where we have tested an app ourselves, the article says so. If it does not, treat it as desk research.
- Pricing transparency. We state what the app costs according to its store listing, what is locked behind a subscription or in-app purchase, and what the free version can do. Fair one-time prices and honest free tiers score higher.
- Update frequency. We favor apps that are actively maintained, and we revisit articles when an app changes in a way that matters or when we find a mistake.
- No paid placements. Rankings follow our research, never payment. The site currently uses no affiliate links; if that ever changes, affected links will be clearly marked.
